Curatorial insightBen Ward began painting with Waringarri Aboriginal Artists in Kununurra in 2011. His highly graphic paintings contain a triangular design that creates form and movement across the canvas, yet imparts a flatness to the composition. This work is a good example of Ward’s unique style. It is composed of a series of rows of coloured triangles that form and delineate Bilbijing Hill – a grasshopper Dreaming site – and the surrounding sky, water and trees that frame this important place.
