Curatorial insightFor many years printmaking within Indigenous communities has offered alternative ways for artists to depict their stories. Many artists who would classify themselves as painters work collaboratively with master printmakers in creating etchings, lithographs, screen prints, wood and lino prints. Traditionally-informed mark-making and design translates particularly well into these media. Artists on the Tiwi Islands have a history of working with printmakers, and this selection of prints by Conrad Tipungwuti were produced in collaboration with well-known print studio Northern Editions, who are based in Darwin and have worked extensively across Indigenous Australia.
