Curatorial insightPalpatja’s paintings depict the creation stories surrounding the Piltati rock hole. This narrative tells of two women and their husbands, and how a series of everyday events went on to change the landscape permanently, creating significant water systems which to this day remain important sources of water and ceremonial sites for the Pitjantjatjara. Untitled is a fine example of Palpatja’s work, recognised for his use of gesture, bold colour and symbology which is synonymous with his work. (AGWA 2013)
