Curatorial insightTony Albert works predominantly in new media and investigates issues surrounding Indigenous identity and the representation of Indigenous people in contemporary culture. In the No place series, Albert explores his and the Girramay people's identity as warriors. Adorning his subjects with masks traditionally used in Cuban wrestling called Lucha Libre, Albert presents striking portraits of the warriors in his community, depicted as anonymous, strong and confident men, whose culture is omnipresent and supersedes the notion of the individual.
