Artist statementThis is the rainbow-coloured water snake, travelling in a thunderstorm. He’s travelling near Japingka waterhole, and he’s got kurtukurtu all round. Kurtukurtu, that’s rain clouds. They call that water snake Kalpurtu. (O'Ferrall, Jimmy Pike - Desert Designs, 1995)
