Curatorial insightThe elongated triangles represent the rock totems. It is believed that the flying foxes eventually turned into the rocks depicted. The long white symbol represents two waterholes joined by a creek, which is the centre of the flying fox country. The subject of the painting is a Djambarrpuyngu mortuary rite.
